Brain Power

Ginkgo Biloba Standardized Extract

We used ginkgo standardized extract in our successful clinical trial to
combat dementia - the Hawaii Dementia Prevention Trial.
The ginkgo extract was used along with other nutrients,
most of which are contained in Brain and Body Food.
Please be aware that ginkgo cannot be used with blood thinners, such as warfarin.

Memory improved in 9 months as shown in the graph below:

Nine double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trials showed that
ginkgo biloba helped both in delaying the onset of
Alzheimer’s disease and in treating it.
Substantial evidence suggests that ginkgo
protects memory neurons against cell death induced by amyloid plaque.

The reason that we use the standardized extract of ginkgo is that plant active
constituents can vary from leaf to leaf and tree to tree.
Certain constituents are needed and helpful, such as
ginkgo flavone glycosides (standardized to 24%) and
terpene lactones (standardized to 6%).
These bioactive constituents of ginkgo support blood flow to brain tissues.
This formulation is also standardized to contain less than 1% of ginkgolic acid,
an undesirable constituent.
We used two capsules daily in our clinical trial,
so the bottle can last for one and one-half months.
Many people find that a single capsule daily is enough.
