The Powerful Role of Nutrition in Parkinson's Disease.
Parkinson's disease involves a deficiency of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Symptoms can include tremor, rigidity, difficulty thinking, and slow movements. Diet can have an impact on our ability to make dopamine. Find out how to adjust a diet to improve dopamine production. We will explore how to avoid the foods and toxins that may deplete the brain cells that make dopamine. We will learn about certain foods that help protect brain cells and slow degeneration. Since symptoms do not often show up before half of the dopamine-producing brain cells are gone, all of us can benefit from proactive risk reduction. September 27, 2017. 6:30 pm. Path to Vibrant Health, 4 Fort Hill Road, East Sandwich, Cape Cod, MA 02537

Presented on Saturday, November 8th, 2008 at 7 pm at the Ala Wai Golf Course Clubhouse, 404 Kapahulu Ave., Honolulu (0.2 miles behind the Waikiki-Kapahulu Library). Also Presented on Wednesday, Nov. 12th, 2008 at 7 pm at the Cameron Center Auditorium, Kahului, Maui.
I have been studying up on dietary fats and blood fats for a new book. I will share some basic information on triglycerides, phospholipids, and cholesterol. Processing of oils results in some important changes in their nutritional value. The fragile essential fatty acids need more attention in any diet (fish oils are not essential). How the long-chain omega 3's, DHA and EPA, are made in the body is important. Prostaglandins are made from essential fatty acids and control inflammation, blood pressure, and clotting. I also want to share how excess dietary sugars and refined starches can be converted into excess blood and body fat. Since trans fats account for double the amount of other food additives together, they need more attention as well. We will look at the right amount of the right oils for optimum health.
